fuckyeahyoga: Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement of your aloneness to learn anything or anyone that does not bring you alive is too small for you.   The House of Belonging by David Whyte This is something I want to tell my future children.

Bye for now Toronto!
Oh. My. Gosh! I never thought it would be so weird to be between places. But I’m sitting here in my room in Toronto looking at my empty walls and I feel so…disconnected. This isn’t my room any more and it kind of makes me sad. And then on top of it, my room at my new home (ahem, parent’s house) is in such disarray that I don’t feel comfortable there either. I kind...

I've got a food diary!
I’ve started keeping a food diary on myfitnesspal.com. Man, do I eat a lot of crap…really late at night…and without even realizing it. I may or may not have had a 6 inch tuna sub at 2am last night. I also don’t drink nearly enough water, but seriously, how many people actually do? Drinking eight glasses of water a day is like the dentist telling you to brush your teeth...

We Were All Beginners Once
Here is a picture of my with my very first kula schedule. This is the schedule that changed my life. I remember I started in August just as my life felt like it was crumbling. I had recently graduated from university but didn’t have any real prospects for a career and was having a really hard time coming to terms with the fact that I could have a degree but nothing to show for it. No...

Yoga Home Practice
stellarbby: I really wanna learn more about yoga, if i could I would join a yoga studio but since i’m moving in 3 months to a different state I’d much rather practice at home until I move to south carolina. It’s hard to come up with a yoga practice sequence on my own just because I only know very little about most of the poses on a beginner level. So if anyone has any suggestions on how I can...

Yoga for Round Bodies Teacher Training! →
LOVE THIS! As you may know, I am a huge believer that yoga is a practice for all body shapes and sizes (and, for the record, I also believe that one’s fitness level is not determined by one’s shape or size). That said, because there are so many people with all different body types there is no one way to teach yoga. What you learn in teacher training is a template but it is up to us...

Codex from Radiohead's King of Limbs album →
This is one of my favourite songs to do my home practice to, actually the whole King of Limbs album by Radiohead is amazing for yoga. Try this song with some Sun Salutations, as a cool-down song (maybe during shoulder stand) or it works really well when you’re trying to breathe your way through a long hold on a pose. I know that sometimes it’s hard to motivate yourself beyond doing a...

Stay Free: Respecting History →
Love that this person is taking the time to understand the history and philosophy behind yoga and asana practice! My practice became so much deeper and more meaningful the more I learned about it.  partofme-apartfromme: I’ve always had this pull toward yoga- as if yoga would give me the answers I’m looking for. But as fond of yoga as I was in my mind, I never physically practiced it as much...

My first (and very short) fast!
So I’ve decided to do a water fast tomorrow just for a couple days…maybe only one. Who knows how long I’ll last without eating because I do love food! My mom’s friend does a one day fast once a month  (or is it once a week…) just to give her body a break. I’ve been feeling kind of sluggish lately and my digestive system isn’t working at its full capacity....
